Metal Engineering Dowel Pins Info
Engineering dowel pins come in many different styles, some are grooved down the shaft of the pin and some are smooth. Dowel pins are used for many applications, for instance they can be used for aligning two surfaces together with accuracy, as with injection moulding tools.
Or they can simply be used to pivot something or lock in place on a shaft. Dowel pins are usually driven in with a hammer or tool press like a fly press. The hole the dowel pin is going in needs to be slightly small than the pin.
This will ensure a good tight fit. Some dowel pins have a chamfered end to them , this is to allow easy installation of the pin.
